Hatchling visualises a slumbering creature suspended in a cocoon of skin. It sleeps within its own universe: a protective, glowing enclosure. The work reflects a period of incubation, exploring stillness not as stagnation but as a necessary stage of transformation.
The skeletal creature animated by a beating heart and exposed anatomy suggests the shedding of old identities. The creature itself is a construct of my imagination: a wingless Chinese dragon intertwined with anatomical features reminiscent of Western mythical beings. Celestial bodies orbit around its planet.
The animation is presented on a screen encased within a multimedia cocoon-like vessel. This physical enclosure extends the themes of containment beyond the screen to inhabit a tangible body.
While the surrounding world may feel turbulent and uncertain,  Hatchling is a reminder of a boundary between the outside world and our internal mind.
I believe that when the cocoon finally shows its first cracks, this Hatchling will be ready to fly.
